This week, the Japanese government announced that the Subaru Impreza won Japan’s safest passenger car award for 2007.
The four door hatchback Impressa was the best in tests of pedestrian protection and passenger protection against 15 other passenger models, all popular sellers in the last year. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism stated that the Subaru was the only model to receive top ratings for head protection performance in the Japan New Car Assessment Program.
Out of the 15 cars included, the Impressa got the highest five-star score, along with 12 others, for protection of front seat passengers and drivers. They tested frontal, frontal offset and side collisions. According to the Ministry, this demonstrated the increase in safety amongst Japanese cars.
