A Subaru dealer in Carlisle is promoting the new Boxer Diesel engine with a see-through Subaru car! The Subaru bonnet is made of glass and all the detail is replicated on vinyl. The showroom has seen a massive upturn in visitors.
The side of the care shows the engine and it also shows the famous symmetricl all-wheel drive system. It even shows the exhaust silencer.
Ian Armstrong, the Dealer Principal of the Subaru dealership in question, namely Stan Palmer Sales, has said:
“Being the world’s first boxer diesel engine, we though we should come up with something equally revolutionary to get the car noticed. We saw a cutaway picture of the engine in the brochure and that got us thinking about taking it one step further. The reaction has been fantastic, with people almost tripping up as they walk past. Customer footfall has gone up dramatically and while it may not mean a sale today, some will come back when it’s time for them to change their car.”
They took a photograph of the engine with an eight mega-pixel camera to get the car imaged up. It has even got the Subaru Head Office talking!
Lawrence Good, Managing Director of Subaru (UK) Limited said: “This car has become quite a talking point back here in head office and is a fantastic and cost-effective advertising initiative. It should inspire other dealers to either copy the idea or come up with their own innovative campaigns.”
Subaru UK Ltd is used to using promotional stunts. Last year they used a car transporter to tour the UK with 3 new cars upside down on the lower deck and then another 3 cars above them the correct way up as part of their ‘Subaglue’ campaign. The tagline was “Sticks To The Road Like Glue”.
Prices for the new Boxer Diesel Legacy and Outback range start at £20,995 OTR for a Subaru Legacy 2.0D Sports Tourer.
