Welcome to the Subaru Impreza WRX STi. It only comes as a hatchback, shamefully bulky, and with a weird shaped rear. The stereo (pictured here) is a disappointment to me and I imagine many other music fans. The six CD changer is standard and it can read MP3 files, but it only shows files and folders, not album or artist tags. On the plus side, there are 10 speakers and a good bass line. Sorry to bore with you that, who the hell cares about the stereo when you drive a Subaru Impreza!!
Strangely, if you want the sat nav options, you have to order either the silver or gold BBS wheels. What the hell does sat nav have to do with the wheels!
The STI comes with Subaru’s SI drive feature, so you have the choice of Sports, Sports Sharp or Intelligent drive. It also comes with a six speed gearbox and top horsepower of 296 bhp. It’s got good road grip I’ll give it that and comes with a hill-hold feature, so you can stick the car in first gear, take your foot off the brake and it won’t roll back.
Unsurprisingly, you don’t get much mpg – 17 urban and 23 motorway in fact, but you don’t buy a Subaru Impreza for the fuel economy do you. Overall, can’t say I’m impressed with this model, in fact, disappointed would be the word. The design is just not up to scratch.
