Prodrive has revealed the Subaru Impreza that driver Marcus Gronholm will drive in the rally of Portugal. The car, Prodrive Impreza WRC2008 pays respect to the Portuguese Tourism Board, which has helped in the funding of the world champion, Marcus Gronholm’s return to the competition after 16 months of retirement.

It has been said that Prodrive, on the other hand is not just viewing this situation as Marcus’s return on a funded drive. They have a lot of faith in his potential and are sure that he will be able to show car’s true pace in the rally of Portugal.

The amount of interest being showed by the team to make this outing memorable is astounding. Gronholm will be driving the car in Wales this week before undertaking, another two day test in Spain, next week.

David Lapworth, who is the Technical Director at Prodrive, has stated that their team has only been able to make very little changes to the car due to the homologation restrictions. The most important change that has been made is the addition of Ohlins dampers.

He also stated that ideally, Marcus would get a lot more time behind the wheel, before the event. But in this case, it is not quite possible. He is however sure that, Marcus will be able to find a rhythm with the car in the time he has for test runs.

The Subaru Impreza was first seen in Monte Carlo rally in 1997. This chassis was then used by Colin McRae, Pierro Liatti and Kenneth Erikkson. This Subaru is now for sale on Prodrive drive website and is priced at 85,000 pounds.

The new Prodrive website is dedicated to pre-owned Prodrive-built rally cars. The 1997 Impreza with the chassis number, PRO-WRC-97-001, was the first rally car built under the new WRC regulations. This car was then rebuilt in 1998, and then sold to a Prodrive customer. This Subaru Impreza 1997 rally car has been fully restored by McKinstry motorsports.

Seven other Subaru Impreza rally cars are on sale. Seventeen other Prodrive Impreza Ns are also available through the Prodrive website. The 2005 Subaru Impreza Group N is being sold for 50,000 pounds and the 2008 specification Subaru Impreza is being sold at a whopping 350,000 pounds.

Although Subaru is no longer a competitor in the World Rally Championship (WRC), it continues to show its support for the rallying world. The carmaker recently unveiled a one-of-a-kind Subaru Impreza WRX STI.

The custom edition Impreza model has been designed for Subaru’s rally driver Travis Pastrana.

To commemorate the third consecutive Rally America National Championship win of Pastrana, Subaru has worked closely him with to create the brilliant WRX STI. Motorsport workshop Vermont SportsCar also worked on the yellow colour car, using an array of STI parts and Subaru Performance Tuning (STP), along with some unique custom pieces to complete the ‘199’ liveried WRX STI.

Most of the components used in the custom edition Travis Pastrana WRX STI, such as the exhaust, SPT and STI engine, interior parts and chassis are available as dealer accessories, for sale.

The Subaru Impreza WRX STI features a lower chassis brace and an STP front strut tower brace, red Brembo brake calipers, new BF Goodrich tires with Work Evolution 18 inches alloys, custom graphics and yellow paintwork, carbon-fiber hood and rear wing, and a newly designed grille mesh. The icing on the cake is the HID driving lights placed on the front bumper.

Under the hood, the car is equipped with a custom down pipe and performance-tuned ECU.

Versatile space

Subaru Impreza 2009 comes in 4 and 5 doors. It lets you transport different sized objects as it has a 60/40 split flat folding rear seats. Subaru Impreza has rear seat backup, this allows two people and a long item along with other person to gear up for everything.

Storage capacity
