Subaru Canada have just had an all-time record for sales in a month this July!

With this being the eight consecutive month of growth this is the best ever for the Subaru Impreza lineup.
Subaru Canada, Inc. are chuffed to announce that it set an all-time monthly sales record in the month of July 2008. With total sales of just over 2,000 units were up 62.2 percent over last July, and beat the previous record, set in April of this year, by 32 units. It was the eighth consecutive month of sales growth for SCI.

July also being the eight consecutive month with growth for sales on Subaru Impreza’s, as the Canadians bought just over a thousand of these affordable performance vehicles, a 95.7 percent improvement over the same month last year. Forester also made a significant contribution to the company’s success in July, with 659 units beating last July’s sales by 145%.

On the 31st August 2008 Subaru aim at setting a new world record….

Recently, the Essex police team, more commonly known as the ‘interceptors’ have taken a high performance driving tuition from the specialists of motor sport.

A team of 21 members underwent a special training for a day at the performance centre. This was done so that the members get used to the Subaru Impreza GB270. This latest Subaru Impreza model of 270 bhp and a four wheel drive engine is capable of reaching 60 miles per hour in a time span of just five seconds. All of the members are professionally trained drivers but the unique handling of these cars required this special training.

The Keski-Uusimaa Rally, the fourth round of the Finnish Rally Championship turned out to be a winner for the Subaru Team. Jari Ketomaa of Team Subaru emerged as the clear winner in his latest TMR 08 Subaru Impreza WRX STI.

Ketomaa is a two times Finnish Champion, along with his co-driver Miika Teiskonen, and they were pretty pleased to start the Finnish season this summer after having a series of satisfactory testing sessions.

Pleased with the performance of his Subaru Impreza WRX STI Ketomaa said that they did a lot of development work with Tommi Makinen Racing. They ran tests on the Subaru Impreza in Romania, Italy and recently even in Finland.

Ketomaa in his Subaru Impreza WRX STI beat Mitsubishi driver Kosti Katajamaki by 19.9 seconds.

He said that they had a terrific rally with no real problems. The Subaru Impreza was extremely impressive in its handling fast gravel roads. This was the second victory in a row both for Ketomaa and Subaru Impreza.
This was also good news for Tommi Makinen Racing. They were very happy with the development of the new TMR 08 Subaru Impreza. The potential of the Subaru Impreza was well demonstrated by Ketomaa’s performance.

The new Legacy will be available in February or March next year apparently, according to Japan but I’m afraid we’ll have to wait another 3 years for the coupe!

The new car will be much greener than the current version and the body style will be rounder and more conservative. Conservative?? Yuck!

The new Legacy will have a double wishbone rear suspension like the Impreza/Forester. Instead of four-wheel drive it will have rear-wheel drive to make it lighter.

It is bound to be popular in Europe with the acclaimed 2.0-litre Boxer Diesel and the 2.0 and 2.5-litre flat-four engines.

Economy and CO2 emissions will be improved by CVT transmission and there is also a new stop start system in development.

Am most disgusted and gutted to report that the Subaru Impreza only achieved second place in the Acropolis Rally last weekend in Greece.

Now I realise for most makes of car, this position may be satisfactory but we have come to expect more from the Subaru Impreza.

I shall be looking for better results in future Subaru!

Subaru Rally Team Canada duo, Alan Ockwell and Patrick Richard, won their race decisively last weekend. It was a debut race for the 2008 Subaru STi. It was the first overall win in North America rallying for the team.

Richard said:

“I am pleased to see that we’ve started off the new partnership with Subaru Canada with the absolute best result possible. We still have more work to do but this means that we are in a great position for the overall championship. The team worked really hard and this is a great way to start off.”

It was the first time Ockwell had stood on the very top of the podium. He said:

“I’ve been rallying a long time, and I’m fortunate to be part of this hard working team that not only has brought the first North American victory to Subaru with a brand new 2008 Impreza WRX STi, but also the first victory of my career. I hope that this is the first of many more victories.”
